Children's Care Centre

The Children’s Care Center, operating since 2001, is an educational and care facility for children under 7 from economically depressed families in Durban. It is run by the Union of Refugee Women, an energetic group of women from Rwanda, Burundi and Congo. It has grown to become an edu-care center offering quality childcare. Children living in an inner city setting are given a step up through English based learning experiences.

Global Family funds pay fees for children attending the Center, the salary for a qualified preschool educator, training for staff and covers educational supplies and nutritious food for the children.

This year Global Family supports schools and school children in nearly 100 settings in over 40 countries. With this update report, we would like to share with you highlights from five of those programs.

Afghanistan

Le Pelican

If Le Pelican did not exist, many of the Hazara children presently enrolled would be working at nearby carpet factories. Besides these regular school classes, they have also started a new focus on literacy education for older girls and women.

Anglican Church Education

The Anglican Church Education project helps these communities organize preschools and understand the value of early childhood education in building a foundation for learning

TRALSO Pre-schools

By not having access to quality early childhood education, children have no base on which to build the next steps. In beginning preschool programs, seven rural communities have chosen to give their children the culture of learning as early as possible.

Kenya

Menno Kids Academy

Global Family funds pay for teacher stipends, text books, as well as miscellaneous costs such as improved sanitation for students and teachers. Global Family funds also support the feeding program.
